While newspapers and Tour organizers talked about roughly the same big crowds watching the race this year, it seems to me that the crowds have shrunk. Last year, we walked to Tam Junction 30 minutes before the race and grabbed the last available front-row spot. This time I drove by to a different spot and saw only two people.
The following shot was taken one minute before the peleton passed us. Many of the spectators were cyclers who were called of the track by security. Overall, there were not more than 20 people watching…

Hardly 2 miles from the starting point and already behind on the first climb. Let’s hope for the guy that it was due to a defect; otherwise, he might be the first candidate for dropping out of the race…
